We took a water bus over to the island of Burano to eat at a local restaurant that has been in the family for 4 generations, since 1920. We heard about it from Anothony Bourdain, where he went nuts over their seafood risotto, which has been made the exact same way since they opened, passing the recipe down the family line. When they first opened they just served fishermen and lace makers, but now the island is popular with tourists. On the walls of the restaurant were many famous people who had eaten there, including Robert De Niro, Keith Richards, Charlie Chaplin, Sylvester Stallone, Jane Fonda, and a very long list of other famous people. The risotto was pretty good but my favorite part was the lemon cake with meringue, it was without a doubt one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. It might inspire me to make more meringues. The sea bass was good but expensive. If you’re staying in Venice a few days then you should get the multi day boat pass, it’s a lot easier and more economical.

Historic place that keeps the attentive service, good food and reasonable prices. One of those places that makes you love Italy

Excellent food and service. Stopped off for the famous risotto and it didn’t disappoint. Quite simple, but a lesson in simple food done well! Also had octopus to start, probably one of the best I have eaten, beautifully cooked. Service was top notch, and terrace was lovely for people watching in the sun over lunch. Arrive early or book to get a decent seat, as internal seating is a bit disappointing and misses a key part of the experience!

Unexpectedly, I need to find a restaurant for lunch in Burano. Da Romano is notable on Google Map, so I decided to go. A gentle old man welcome my family. Most of servers are gentle old men, and it seems they have been here for a long time. Looks great and I can feel their history and philosophy. All foods are good. Especially, Risotto Romano is awesome (the gentle man explained one of fish cannot be caught at this season, so it is replaced. Risotto is minimum order 2 portion). Squid ink spaghetti and seafood linguine are so nice. Pomodoro spaghetti help to meet a balance of vegetable. House wines are also better than average. White wine is more impressive. If you visit Burano, Da Romano can be a good choice.

Wonderful food and experience. The risotto was one of the best we’ve had! A must try. We also had the mixed fish grilled and fried. You can taste the freshness of the food. Delicious all around.

A great place in the heart of Burano. The trattoria is big but busy, we had to wait on arrival to get a table but it was worth it. Anyone can find a place here, there is a terrace, a stylish and a family-friendly section. The seafood and the artichoke was amazing. Prices are high, but so is the quality. Professional service, friendly staff. Recommended.

Have been wanting to eat at this restaurant since I saw Bourdain eat here on the Venice episode of no reservations. It doesn’t happen often, but the restaurant did not only meet my expectations, but it surpassed them. Tucked away in this beautiful island you will have without a doubt one of the best meals to be had in Venice. Emailed ahead of time for a reservation, take in the island and then sit down and enjoy your meal in an incredible restaurant. My only regret is not trying their fried seafood platter!
